Women United exists to provide financial support to organizations or groups that demonstrate the ability to enhance the quality of life for our Siouxland youth.

Women who wish to become a member of Women United have several gift options:
$1,250 (1/2 vote) $2,500 (1 vote) $5,000 (2 votes)
Votes are used to determine projects that will be funded during the grant review process.
NEW for 2013: Women United Emergency Grants
One-time grants ranging from $100-$500 are now available.
The intent of these grants is to assist children (individuals, not agencies or groups) in emergency and/or life-altering situations.
Requests for funds must be submitted through a local non-profit agency in Woodbury, Dakota, or Union County.
Since 2006, Women United has awarded 30 grants totaling $537,500 to local non-profit groups aimed at providing innovative, life-improving programs for Siouxland youth. The members of Women United are committeed to funding sustainable programs with positive results. 2013 Women United Grant Recipients ($85,000 Awarded) Brighter Futures Grant Recipients (Grantees may re-apply for up to three years) BackPack Program: Food for Kids – Food Bank of Siouxland $20,000 Sustain a weekend food sack program available at five Siouxland elementary schools with highest rates of free and reduced lunch. The effort increases school performance and overall health. YouthBuild Skills and Grills – Goodwill Industries $15,569 Educate current YouthBuild clients about meal budgeting and nutrition. Students will participate in cooking classes and will gain access to healthy food. Iowa KidsSight – Iowa Lions Foundation $9,800 Purchase a digital camera to provide free vision screenings to Siouxland preschoolers. This volunteer-run program improves early learning & detection of eye problems. Referrals are made to local optometrists, Food 4 Kids – St. James United Methodist Church $15,000 Provide nutritional food sacks two weekends/month to low-income children at Whittier Elementary. This volunteer-run program was born from a neighborhood study identifying hunger as a top need. Youth Oral Health Outreach and Early Dental Home – Siouxland Community Health Center $8,930 Support preventative strategies reaching underserved children with unmet oral health needs, reducing dental problems and providing linkage to a dental home. Horses Healing Hearts; Helping kids of offenders – STARS $6,827 Help children of former offenders reunite with their parents, rediscover family roles and conquer the challenges they face as at-risk youth through equine-assisted learning activities.
Program Grant Recipients (One-time grants for specific projects) Safety through Education – Crittenton Center $2,500 Provide a proper car seat to parents who participate in a 6-session parenting curriculum focused on problem solving, communication and other key parenting skills. i-Ready – Girls Inc. $2,500 Purchase math & reading components of i-Ready, a web-based math and reading academic program that provides the tools and practice required to accelerate academic performance. Emergency Backpack Program – Mercy Child Advocacy Center $2,000 Provide a touchable response to abuse by offering 100 backpacks filled with a fleece blanket, personal care & comfort items to children who are removed from their homes for their safety. Sioux City Special Olympics $1,956 Supply specialized equipment, meals and transportation to Special Olympic athletes for competition at District and State level events.
